Meet Becky

Becky suffered from mental illness and for as long as she could remember she had been labeled by teachers and students as the child with behavioral problems

The troublemaker.

She started to believe it and she felt no one knew her pain, she heard angry voices and she felt afraid. She began to isolate herself in her room for long periods of time and struggled to resist her suicidal thoughts.

Mom didn't understand,
she did everything she could and still she couldn't reach her.

It was here that she discovered their family needed more then the traditional medication and therapies.

Our staff worked diligently with Becky through supportive activities;
positive listening, counseling, mentoring, encouragement and little things like redecorating her room.

We became a friend that she could trust. Eventually Becky gained the strength to leave her dark world and became hopeful that she could be normal again.

Over time with our encouragement she returned to school, became actively involved in social activities and made new friends.

Becky's struggle is not over; there is no cure for the burden she carries. We have however provided her and her mom with the skills and confidence to overcome future episodes.
